Interview with Revan by MEDIA MW

Lanchilot:
Hi Revan. Tell me a little about yourself. How is your im? How old are you? Where do you study and for whom?

Revan:
Hello everyone, I am the author of the YouTube channel of the same name and the telegram channel on the topic of Modern Warships. My name is Vova, I myself am from a small town in Ukraine. Now I am 18 years old, I am studying for the specialty of political science, where I am studying, I will not speak yet.

Lanchilot:
Do you have any hobbies, hobbies? Do you often read books? Which ones would you recommend to our readers?

Revan:
Yes, hobbies are a bit present. The main subject of my interest is history, politics and military art. In many ways, it was because of my passion for the navy that I came to MV to feel the atmosphere of modern naval battles. Unfortunately, due to the small amount of free time, I do not read books as often and not as much as I would like, but I devote at least 5 hours a week to books. Due to quite specific hobbies and interests, the books are quite narrowly focused. I recommend 2 books that were interesting to me: the first, probably the most important for me in terms of understanding the modern world order, is the New Confession of the economic killer John Perkins, which will give a basic understanding of the work of American financial institutions in the second half of the 20th century. The second and last one I read is a brief History of the SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany) 1848-2002. A very fascinating book for people interested in German politics and the development of social democracy in the world (and Germany has always been a leader in the influence of social democratic parties).

Lanchilot:
When did you get into the game? What did you like about the game that made you stay?

Revan:
I came into the game, which is very comical, after the story with the cruiser “Moscow” on April 13-14 last year. For some reason, it was after this moment that I had a great desire to play modern boats on my phone. The game liked the fast pumping, the ability to play normally without donating, the opportunity to play with bots (especially when I was learning to play) and a large selection of real ship models. All these advantages and the lack of alternatives forced me to stay.

Lanchilot:
What motivated you to create any content on Modern Warships?

Revan:
Before that, I already had experience creating content on mobile games and it seemed to me that I could improve the quality of content on MV on Youtube. Plus, I wanted to get to know more experienced players at that moment. But rather, it’s just pure inspiration and a desire to do something cool.

Lanchilot:
What were your first acquaintances in Modern Warships after you started hosting the channel?

Revan:
I certainly don’t remember, but the first most striking are Misha MWC and the Nerd from the tg channel. I met Misha in the process of trying to buy advertising from him (but nothing happened). And after the first communication, we somehow began to communicate, he helped me with the creation of the current design of the channel, introduced me to many bloggers on MV, gave contact with developers, in general, brought me to people. And I went to the Nerd in an attempt to find more audience. He just recently created a tg channel and I offered mutual PR, which played us both a plus. We also talked sometimes, I still treat him positively and am grateful to fate for such an acquaintance. It is also important to mention TORNADO, whom I met a little later, a very positive, kind person, to whom I also owe a lot.

Lanchilot:
You used to channel on another game. Please tell us more about the game, what did you achieve in it and why did you stop doing videos on it?

Revan:
Yes, earlier on the same channel there was content on such a not so popular game as Soccer Manager. In fact, this is a football coach simulator, but very simplified in comparison with Football manager on PC. I achieved the status of a Top-2 blogger in ru-YouTube for the game there, gained the first thousand subscribers and gained basic knowledge on creating content on YouTube. I stopped studying because of the lack of progress in the game, plus I reached the maximum in terms of the number of audiences related to this topic.

Lanchilot:
You shot about 2 videos a week on the topic of Modern Warships, what motivated you at that moment and under what circumstances did it happen that you just gave up?

Revan:
Why I was shooting has already been explained above, so much because it was interesting, there was a response, the channel was developing rapidly and I saw that I was doing something interesting. I dropped into my hands the force of objective circumstances, in the form of admission to university and others, which I will keep silent about for now. Well, the rather monotonous gameplay of MV also played a role here.

Lanchilot:
Why did you decide to resume activities on YouTube, in tg, on Modern Warship?

Revan:
Well, to be honest, I didn’t go anywhere, I was just waiting for something interesting, new and waiting for a good reason to return. As a result, I decided to intensify the output of content simply because there was a little free time, plus there were technical conditions for streaming, improving sound quality. Well, in many ways, I plan to do more content on War Thunder mobile, so the release of the game in beta also played a role.

Lanchilot:
Were you impressed by something in the game, in the community of the game, after returning?

Revan:
I was impressed by the number of tournaments and the development of this part of the game, when I left I also held a tournament, and then this story was just beginning. I was also positively impressed by the number of tg channels for the game, it’s pretty cool when there are a lot of different authors. At the same time, I was negatively impressed by the lack of gameplay changes in the game and the increase in the number of donations. Plus, it feels like YouTube on mv has degraded quite a lot.

Lanchilot:
How do you like such a huge number of telegram channels on MW? Has this never happened before?

Revan:
It’s cool, there’s a lot of interesting and non-obvious content for me. Tg has already become and will be almost the main platform for MW content makers.

Lanchilot:
I saw in one of the posts that you bought a new microphone, how successful was this purchase? Was the new video recorded on it?

Revan:
Yes, finally, a year later, a new microphone was bought to improve the level of content. Before that, all the videos were made on the built-in microphone of the phone, which did not suit me, but until this spring somehow there was no desire to return, but under the return I decided to make a gift to all viewers. The last 2 videos were made with a new microphone, but for now I’m still adjusting the microphone for the best sound. But I think a huge difference is already being heard.

Lanchilot:
What do you think is missing in the game?

Revan:
There are a lot of problems, I even wrote a script for a video about the problems of the game six months ago, which, in many ways, were repeated in a recent video of the MWC channel, which shows the lack of progress. I will probably highlight 3 main problems: few maps, no game modes other than the classic deathmatch and monotonous gameplay.

Lanchilot:
What are your plans for the future on YouTube, tg, channel?

Revan:
That’s where I can’t tell you anything. Based on experience, there can be absolutely anything, from 2 videos a week to 1 video every six months. So far, the main thing is to develop, make content and wait for tanks

Lanchilot:
What would you like to wish the community of the game, the developers, our readers?

Revan:
I wish patience to the community of the game, success to the developers and a clear understanding of the development of the game, and a good day to the readers.
